Hey Shani,
Do I have to prove to my family and friends that I’m not unhappy being single?
Hey You,
No. It’s not your job to convince your family you’re telling the truth, it’s their job to remember that they didn’t raise a liar. Why can friends and family take information at face value until we start talking about our love lives then, suddenly, we’re full of shit? There is nothing about being single that predisposes us to telling tall tales. Quite to the contrary, there is something fishy about society and its inability to trust someone just because they aren’t in a romantic partnership. That is, to put it mildly, fucked up.
